WELCOME

The Cultures of Stone 2014 Conference will take place at University College Dublin (UCD) on September 18th-20th 2014, jointly organised by UCD School of Archaeology and UCD School of Classics with the support of the National Museum of Ireland. We welcome researchers from all disciplines focusing on the significance of stone amongst past societies to take part and join us for the event.

We are very pleased to announce that our keynote lectures will be addressed by Dr Chantal Conneller (Archaeology, University of Manchester), Dr Hazel Dodge (Classics, Trinity College Dublin) and Dr Chris Wingfield (Archaeology and Anthropology Museum, University of Cambridge).
The opening lecture by Dr Chris Wingfield, "Written in stone? Exhibiting world archaeology in Cambridge", will verse on the challenges of how stone is exhibited and it will take place at the National Museum of Ireland on 18th September 2014, followed by the optional conference dinner.

We look forward to seeing you all in September at COS2014!
